Joint Statement by the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors about Equitable Sharing Agreement
Today, the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors issued the following joint statement:
“The Board acknowledges concerns regarding allegations of civil rights violations in other matters not falling within the reporting requirements of the Equitable Sharing Agreement and Certification from the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office to the US Department of Justice. The Board remains committed to accurately providing information to the Federal Government, regardless of how it may affect grants of fund allocations to any department in Maricopa County.
With respect to the pending matters raised by members of the public at the last public meeting, (Melendres, et al. v. Arpaio, et al. CV 07-02513-PHX-GMS; USA v. Maricopa County CV 12-981-PHX-ROS) if they fall within the reporting requirements for the next fiscal year, they will be reported regardless of any impact to funding.”
In addition, the Board of Supervisors voted 5-0 to adopt the Equitable Sharing Agreement.
