Maricopa County Animal Care & Control (MCACC) is about to reach a milestone – 2,012 adoptions at the PetSmart Charities Pet Adoption Center! Opened January 2011, the adoption center is an amazing partnership between MCACC and Phoenix based PetSmart Charities.
The adoption center houses up to 60 adoptable dogs, cats, puppies and kittens at a time. Pets live at the center until they’re adopted. Not only does the new center free up kennel space at the main municipal locations, but it also allows the county to take adoptable pets out into the community.
In honor of the approaching number, the adoption center will be offering pets at a lower than normal adoption fee. Starting March 24th and running until we hit 2,012 adoptions, all dogs and cats go to a new home for $37 only at 4380 N. Miller Road in Scottsdale.
“Adoption is one of the key ways to save pets and end pet homelessness, not to mention enrich our own lives with a loving companion,” said Susana Della Maddalena, executive director of PetSmart Charities, Inc. “By building larger adoption centers like this one, we are promoting pet adoption to more people and reducing euthanasia in local communities, including our hometown.”
Max Wilson, Chairman of the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors is the proud owner of an adopted dog from MCACC and is happy the center is doing so well. “Any time we can get the homeless animals in front of the community, good things happen,” he said. “I am sure that many more adoptions will happen at this wonderful place.”
