 Events for All Parks
<October 2015>

5/26/2015 - Extended due to dry conditions. A date to cancel the fire ban has not yet been determined.
Maricopa County's regional parks will initiate the annual fire ban. This includes banning the use of all campfire, fire pits and charcoal grills; however, it is still acceptable to use gas/propane grills in designated areas such as the ramada areas, semi-developed and developed camping sites, and along the shoreline at Lake Pleasant Regional Park. If the parks do not receive ample rain during the monsoon season, the Maricopa County Parks and Recreation Department may extend the fire ban to protect the parks resources and ensure visitor safety. The Maricopa County Parks and Recreation offers two types of permits for commercial and non-commercial activities when the events or activities are outside a park’s activity design, excludes the general public, or when there is monetary gain. The permits are available for any non-profit, government, private, or commercial organization.

Special Use Permit (SUP):

This permit is utilized for short-term events including, but not limited to, bike races, concerts, scuba events, photography shoots, themed festivals, and hiking events.

Fees associated with a Special Use Permit include:

  • Non-refundable $75 application fee; and
  • Facility rental fees (depending on the location of the event within the park).

In addition, Park Impact Fees are also required and are determined based on the event type, size, scope, and any additional factors that impact park operations.

The current impact fees for Special Use Permits are as follows (as of 2/1/2012):

  • $2.35 per participant
  • $641 per acre
  • $25 per vendor

Contact the Park Supervisor at the location of interest for more information on Special Use Permits.

Commercial Management Concession Agreements (CMCA):

This agreement is utilized when use of the park is for a commercial activity or business venture. Examples of CMCA’s include, but are not limited to, reoccurring events by the same vendor/operator during the course of the year, scuba certifications, food and drink vendors, or commercial sales and/or service offerings (i.e. RV waste disposal/pumping).

Contact the Department’s Contract Administrator at (928) 501-9211 for information and requirements for related to commercial activities within any of the Maricopa County Regional Parks.
