MCDOT employees honored by the WTS Metropolitan Phoenix Chapter

Two MCDOT employees were recently honored by the Women in Transportation (WTS) Metropolitan Phoenix Chapter at the WTS Annual Scholarship and Awards Ceremony.  WTS leaders recognized MCDOT Administrator Teresa Welborn as “WTS Member of the Year” and awarded MCDOT Intergovernmental Coordinator Caitlin Brady with the “Helen M. Overly and Esther Kmetty Scholarship.”

Teresa Welborn WTS AwardThe WTS Member of the Year Award recognizes a WTS member who has made extraordinary contributions to the success of the organization. Teresa Welborn exemplifies commitment to advancing women in transportation through her involvement, leadership and experience in the industry.  She serves on the WTS Metropolitan Phoenix Chapter Advisory Board as well as the WTS International Foundation Board. 




Helen M. Overly and Esther Kmetty Scholarship Award:  Caitlin Brady

Caitlin Brady WTS AwardThe Helen M. Overly and Esther Kmetty Scholarship Award is awarded each year in honor of the founding members of the WTS Metropolitan Phoenix Chapter.  Caitlin Brady is pursuing a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Nebraska, Omaha.  Caitlin previously earned dual bachelor degrees in Public Administration and Political Science from the University of Arizona, worked on political and issue-based campaigns in Arizona and worked at the Arizona and Nevada legislatures.  After completing her degree, she plans to continue her career in the transportation field.  She is grateful for all the support she has found working at MCDOT.

The WTS Metropolitan Phoenix Chapter was formed in 1985 with the goal of creating an environment that encourages the advancement of women in the transportation industry.  MCDOT has 19 employees who actively engage in the organization.
