Pinnacle Vista

Thank you for your interest and feedback regarding the Pinnacle Vista Drive project.

Over the past two months, MCDOT presented your community with three design options to improve Pinnacle Vista Drive. Community members were invited to participate in a virtual public meeting, review design options on the project web page and review answers to several frequently asked questions. Following this information, the community was provided the opportunity to share their preferences for the project through an online survey.

Following the survey, MCDOT leadership re-evaluated the overall condition of the roadway, the engineering principles necessary for the road, and the information gathered from the community. After this thorough review, MCDOT has decided to construct Design Concept 2.

As this project is a departure from the planned construction project some preliminary work must be done before construction can begin. Residents may see MCDOT team members onsite performing some of these pre-construction tasks.

Residents will be notified of the start of construction by a door hanger and electronic message board. Start of construction is estimated to begin in early 2022.

As a result of the new construction start date, those residents who have been contacted by Maricopa County Real Estate Department about the removal of encroachments have been granted an extended deadline by which they will need to remove those items discussed. The new deadline is December 31, 2021

Design Concept 2 focuses on paving upgrades from 40th street to 44th street. Under Concept 2, the road will be standardized to a width of 20 feet. This will allow two cars to pass each other at the same time. This option will require, but also minimize the removal of, some existing trees.

Specifics of the project to be constructed are:

  • Rubber chip seal will be placed, and the road will be standardized to 20 feet
  • A concrete valley gutter will be constructed to help preserve the chip seal
  • No drainage improvements will be constructed
  • Driveways will not be paved
  • No additional stop signs will be installed. After completion of the project MCDOT Traffic will evaluate if additional stop signs are warranted per the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) standards.
