Maricopa County PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT Department Adjusts Public Operations because of COVID-19

In an effort to continue serving our community, while protecting the health and safety of customers and employees, Maricopa County is taking additional measures to limit foot traffic at county buildings. 


  • We are accepting permits online or via a drop-box, which is located outside the lobby at 301 W. Jefferson Street, Phoenix, AZ 85003. 
  • Permits can be submitted digitally through the Online Customer Portal
  • Emergency electrical permits and FastTrack (1-day turnaround) eligible permits should be submitted online. A list of permits that are eligible for FastTrack can be found here
  • Customers can contact us here for assistance with online permitting.
  • Limited appointments will be available for permitting issues that cannot be resolved via telephone or online. 
  • All permits will be issued electronically. Payment can be made online or by calling the cashier at 602-372-1359. 
  • Building and drainage inspections will continue. Inspectors will follow social distancing requirements.  

The Planning and Development Department strives for the highest level of customer service while processing over 12,000 permits a year. We appreciate residents and businesses for adopting this temporary process to protect our community.
