Area Plans are small-scale plans that account for the unique conditions and needs of specific parts of the county. Maricopa County has 13 area plans that range in size and scope. Area plans include policies, a future land use map, and an implementation program. Although area plans address local needs, they nonetheless support and maintain consistency with Vision 2030, the countywide comprehensive plan and will be updated as necessary to reflect this support.
The project area is roughly bounded by Carefree Highway to the south, the Town of Cave Creek and the Tonto National Forest to the east, to the north and west by Yavapai County and at the southwest by the cities of Peoria and Phoenix.
The Area Plan should reflect the ideas and opinions of the community’s residents. Your answers to the following questions will help guide the effort to prepare an update to the Area Plan for the New River/Desert Hills area.
Responses will be kept confidential. All questions are optional --- you can answer as many or as few of the questions as you prefer.
