Before driving, riding, or parking on any land, check with the appropriate agency about the rules and requirements. You may be subject to fines and penalties if you violate the rules and requirements. Riding is prohibited on High Pollution Advisory (HPA) days in most of Maricopa County. Sign up for HPA alerts and information at CleanAirMakeMore.com.
Motor vehicle use on unpaved surfaces is restricted by ordinance P-28 in Maricopa County. You cannot use any vehicle on unpaved public or private property within the unincorporated areas of the County without lawful authority. See the P-28 Fact Sheet for more details.
All Terrain Vehicles (ATVs) and Off-Highway Vehicles (OHVs) use are not permitted at any Maricopa County Park. Trails are designated for non-motorized use only.
Cities and towns within the County also have codes or ordinances that prevent off-road vehicle use in undesignated areas. If you choose to operate a vehicle on unpaved property in cities and towns (incorporated areas), be sure that you know and observe the local codes and ordinances.
