Flood Control

The Flood Control District of Maricopa County is governed by the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors who serve as the District’s Board of Directors. Through the Floodplain Regulations, the District regulates development in the delineated floodplains for unincorporated Maricopa County and 14 of the cities and towns within the County per authority granted by Title 48 of the Arizona Revised Statutes.

The Flood Control Advisory Board acts as the citizens’ board that reviews Flood Control regulatory amendments.

The District is responsible for drafting and amending the floodplain regulations which define the usage rules, development restrictions, and permitting requirements necessary to protect the environmental and flood control qualities of floodplains.
