Dust Control Training

Due to COVID-19, all in-person dust control training classes are temporarily suspended. Rule 310 and Rule 316 Basic and Comprehensive classes are now being offered online. Please email AQTraining@maricopa.gov to register for a class. Online class fees are the same as in-person class fees.

You may need dust control training if your work involves dust-generating operations or the processing of concrete, asphalt, or rock products (including crushing or screening rock products). See our Do You Need Dust Control Training? page for more details.

All dust control certifications are valid for three years from the date of issuance. Dust classes often fill very quickly, so be sure to register well in advance of the expiration of your certification. Newly-hired employees will be granted 30 days from their date of hire to complete training and attain the applicable certification. An identification card will be issued by the department upon completion of training and is to be carried by the certified individual at all times while on site.
First decide which kind of training class you need by consulting the Rule 310 Class Schedule or the Rule 316 Class Schedule. After selecting a class and a specific date, register and pay the fees.

How to Register and Pay Class Fees

To register for an in-person training class, email AQTraining@Maricopa.gov or call our training line at 602-372-1467. Requests must be made at least one week prior to the desired class to allow sufficient time for enrollment and billing. Once you have registered, you will be sent an invoice to pay for the class which will include a link for an online portal. Payment must be received at least two days before the selected class date. Payments will not be accepted on the day of class at the training facility, and must be made prior to receiving a training card or a certificate.
To register for an online training class class, email AQTraining@Maricopa.gov. Payment must be submitted before you can begin the online class. Once the fee has been paid, you will receive an email with a link to the online training portal. If participant information needs to be changed, please notify the department.
Payments can be mailed to one of our permit intake locations. Checks should be made out to Maricopa County Air Quality Department or MCAQD. If you have received an invoice by email, you can use the link to an online portal for payment.

The current class fees are:

  • Basic Class: $50
  • Comprehensive Class: $125
