Career Assessments

Career exploration (aptitudes, assessments) – can't decide what you would like to do? Many entry-level jobs might not always reflect your career interests but they can provide you not only with general work experience and references, but can also help you gain knowledge in your choice of careers. You will probably enjoy what you are doing if you can put some of your natural talents and skills to work. Everyone has skills -- things that you can do well. For example, if you are interested in culinary arts, working in a fast food restaurant might be helpful. If you want to pursue a career in business, working in a retail store might be valuable to you. Explore the following websites to gain some insight into careers that you might like.

Visit College Depot and set up an appointment to explore career interests and complete an assessment for FREE at the Phoenix Public Library.

MCSO Explorer Program

Explore Law Enforcement as a career (ages 14* to 20)
As an Explorer, young adults have the opportunity to assist the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office. Explorers can broaden their understanding and firsthand knowledge of the challenges and job skills that make up their community's law enforcement service.

Explorers receive specialized law enforcement training, attend weekly meetings and volunteer to perform important community services. Along the way, they learn to work as a team, they gain leadership skills, and they serve the community.

An applicant cannot have any arrests and/or convictions for felonies or serious misdemeanors. A member must be able to work independently with other Explorers, Supervisors and Deputies. An applicant must be reasonably physically fit and able to stand for long periods and work in various weather conditions. Explorers must be able to take orders and instructions from other senior Explorers or Explorers of greater rank.
*age 14 is accepted only if you have graduated from 8th grade
