Canceled due to Rain and soft trails- Scorpion Scavenger Hunt! - McDowell Park
McDowell Mountain Regional Park
This event has been canceled due to flooding in the park and soft trails. We apologize, and hope you will join us on the next night hike on Sept. 27th. Scorpions are a lot more fun to find when you spot them glowing under a blacklight, scavenger-hunt style (outside, rather than in your house)! Learn all about these venomous creatures and what makes them so well-adapted to life in the Sonoran Desert. Did you know that we commonly see three different species? And that all scorpions--even fossils of scorpions--glow under a black light? Bring a flashlight or a blacklight, and wear sturdy shoes. This short walk will be less than a mile in length. Meet at the Trailhead Staging Area.
