Sunrise Hike at White Tank Park
White Tank Mountains Regional Park
Meet in Area 4 for a short walk to a observation point where we can watch the sun come up and maybe see some morning wildlife activity. We will start walking at 5:30 a.m. exactly.

Fridays Fitness Hike - Tom’s Thumb Trailhead - *Difficult*- McDowell
McDowell Mountain Regional Park
Fridays Fitness Hike – Various locations in Park- ALL Fridays Come to one or all of the Fitness Hiking Series, every Friday. We build up to a longer hike at the end of the month. Please wear sturdy shoes & bring plenty of water. This week, meet at 6am at Tom’s Thumb Trailhead (OUTSIDE of Park)- intersection of Dynamite and 128th St (drive South on 128th until you dead end into the parking lot). This is a moderate to DIFFICULT hike-- hikers should be experienced. Call the Park if you need additional directions.

Fun with a Bow - Archery 101 7AM Class - Lake Pleasant
Lake Pleasant Regional Park
Sign Up Today - Limited Spots! Learn to shoot a recurve, compound, and cross bow. This 1.5 hour class is the first step in learning archery. Wear comfortable clothes, closed toe shoes and bring some cold water. All equipment is provided. Call 602-372-7460 x 202 , and leave name, phone number, and how many people wish to attend. Ranger will call to let you know if there is room in the class (only 12 people per class). Follow the "Archery 101" signs from the main contact station to the group campground.

Thank you for supporting Maricopa County Parks and Recreation.*** Health and fitness go together hand and hand, but instead of being in a gym all day, head outside and take pleasure in the scenic beauty of the San Tans. Breathe in the fresh air, take in the sights and enjoy a few fitness facts along the way. On this 2.2-mile fitness hike we will be discussing the different types of energy foods. This program is part of a hiking series that will take place on select Friday’s each month with a new fitness facts topic for each hike.

Home School Program: "The Ups and Downs of Roller Coasters” - Usery Park
Usery Mountain Regional Park
Did you know that you can play with a roller coaster inside of your house? Come and learn the key concepts of building a roller coaster. Create loops, camel-backs, and whirly birds to name a few. Open up a world of fun! NOTE: Pre-registration is required through the Arizona Science Center. To register, please call the Arizona Science Center at (602) 716-2000 ext. 229, or email campbellm@azscience.org. Arizona Science Center members: $20 for the first child, $10 for the second child, and $5 for each additional child. Non-members: $30 for the first child, $10 for the second child, and $5 for each additional child. There is also a $6 per vehicle entry fee to enter the park unless you have a county parks annual pass. Location: Usery Park Nature Center.

Meet the true creepy crawlies of the Desert in this indoor interpretive program for all ages. They may not be as scary as you think, once you see them up close...behind glass, of course. Find out why the saying “the smaller scorpions are the most dangerous” is an urban legend, what to do if you are stung, and how cool they look under a blacklight. Ranger Amy will have several species of scorpions on hand so that you can get a closer look...if you dare!

Nocturnal Nature Hike! - Cave Creek Regional Park

I case you hadn’t noticed, it’s cooler after the sun sets. And that’s when things get busy, in the desert. Things go unnoticed in the dark, lurking in the shadows, under the starlit skies. So let’s take a short hike and see if we can notice the “unnoticed”. Meet Ranger Mark at the Nature Center for this Nocturnal adventure. Bring your camera, flashlight, blacklight, and plenty of water. Dress for adventure, including sturdy shoes.
