Sonoran Desert 101 - Spur Cross
Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area
September 1 Saturday 8:00 am Sonoran Desert 101 (easy) Join interpretive ranger Kevin Smith on a hike through the beautiful upland vegetation in Spur Cross. Learn about the ecology of the Sonoran desert and spend an enjoyable 2 hours of hiking slowly and enjoying nature. We encourage you to bring binoculars if you have them.

Reptile and Live Animal Feeding at McDowell- McDowell Park

Have you ever seen a snake eat? Bring your questions for Ranger Amy to our toasty Visitor Center to watch our exhibit animals being fed. Meet our baby tortoises, desert blonde tarantula and giant desert hairy scorpion. One lucky family will win a four pack of Wet 'n' Wild Tickets! Feeding takes place at the Visitor Center.

Hiking Spots Around Lake Pleasant - Lake Pleasant

Dark Nights Rising! - Estrella

Join Ranger Mark in the Nature Center for an introduction to "BATS". We'll talk about these curiously creepy, flying mammals. Afterwards, you are welcome to stay and join us for the Full Moon Hike where we hope to see some of these amazing animals in flight!

Moonlight Hike - Estrella
Estrella Mountain Park
We will have a Full Moon for this 2.6 mile hike that will take us around the Baseline Trail under the moon and stars. Come prepared to hike with sturdy shoes, a big hat, more water than you think you’ll need and a smile. Ranger Mark will lead the hike from the Gila Trailhead(see map for details). Bring a flashlight and a Blacklight to hunt for scorpions!

Summer Night Ride Series - Pemberton Trail
McDowell Mountain Regional Park
This summer night mountain bike series will be held on Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30 p.m. All riders must have a helmet, a lighting system designed for mountain biking and battery power for 3 hours. Riders must sign-in and sign-out, two hours are allowed to ride the Pemberton Trail. It is highly recommended that you ride this trail in day light before coming out for a night ride. The sign sheets are available at 6:30 for riders who might need extra time. NO RIDERS WILL BE ALLOWED TO START AFTER 8:00 p.m.
