Good Morning Hike - Cave Creek Regional Park
Cave Creek Regional Park
Get up, get caffeinated, and get out to the park for a hike! We’ll cover a few miles in a couple of hours and enjoy the desert wilderness before it gets too hot. Bring plenty of water, durable footwear, a hat and a smile. Meet at the Nature Center.

Hohokam Houses - the Ruins of Spur Cross
Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area
August 31 Saturday 8:00 am Ruins of Spur Cross (moderate) Join us for this 2.5 mile hike that will introduce you to the rich archaeological history of the area. See evidence of prehistoric Hohokam dwellings and learn about their culture as we trek on up to one of their mesa-top compounds.

Thank you for supporting Maricopa County Parks and Recreation.*** Mmmmm! Tasty! Learn about some of the appetizing delicacies of the Sonoran Desert inside the comfort of the San Tan Nature Center. Be prepared to be amazed, when you find out what makes a tasty treat in the desert, and what does not. We will also be offering a sweet sampling of Ranger Adam's famous Mesquite Pancakes and Prickly Pear Syrup. No utensils necessary.

All About Scorpions - Usery Park
Usery Mountain Regional Park
How dangerous are scorpions? How can we protect ourselves from them? How do they survive and thrive in our desert? If you would like to know the answers to these questions, or any questions you may have about scorpions, then this one-hour presentation is for you! Bring your sandwich to the “Brown-Bag It” series inside our Nature Center as Ranger B shares some amazing facts about these desert dwellers. Location: Nature Center. Watch us feed our snakes after the program at 7pm. Then join our “Scorpion Hunt” at 7:30pm at no extra cost!

White Tank Mountains Regional Park
Enjoy an night under the stars. You will learn about constelations, learn star names and listen to stories of the night sky. View the moon, planets, star clusters and galaxies through telescopes provided by presenting astronomers. Bring a chair to sit on for the presentation that lasts about 45 minutes. Event is held in Area 4. Try to arrive by 7:15 pm. ***Rescheduled for September 28th***

Scorpion Hunt - Usery Park
Usery Mountain Regional Park
Did you know that scorpions glow in the dark under a blacklight? Join Ranger B as he leads us on this fun and safe night walk to find these elusive desert dwellers (using our eyes only). You will learn cool facts about these amazing creatures and sharpen your spotting skills! All ages will enjoy this casual one-hour/one-mile walk. Please wear closed-toe shoes and bring water and a flashlight (blacklights are recommended and are for sale for $10, batteries and tax included). No pets, please. Location: Trail Staging Area. Join our “All About Scorpions” program inside our Nature Center at 6pm and our snake feeding at 7pm at no extra cost!
