Fridays Fitness Hike- Tom's Thumb Trailhead - McDowell
McDowell Mountain Regional Park
Fridays Fitness Hike – Various locations in Park- ALL Fridays Come to one or all of the Fitness Hiking Series, every Friday. Come prepared to hike 5-miles or more. This week's hike will begin from Tom's Thumb Trailhead. This trailhead is *OUTSIDE* of the park. Trailhead is at the end of 128th St. in the McDowell Sonoran Preserve. Please wear sturdy shoes & bring plenty of water. Hike led by Kevin B.

Exploring the Dragonfly Trail - Spur Cross
Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area
August 29 Friday 7:00 am Exploring the Dragonfly Trail (moderate) Come along with park ranger Kevin Smith on this exploration of the newest trail in the Spur Cross trail system, the Dragonfly Trail. On this moderate 3.5 mile hike we will visit a prehistoric rock art site and also stroll along a beautiful section of riparian habitat on Cave Creek.

On a warm summer night, scouring the desert floor, the scorpions of San Tan look for their next meal. But who are the “BIG 3” of San Tan? Learn about the facts, myths and reputation behind these mysterious creatures during a short presentation in the Visitor Center. Once you have learned all about scorpions you will be ready to meet them face to face on an exciting Scorpion Scavenger Hunt starting at 8p.m.

Movie Night in the Park: "The Living Desert" - Usery Park
Usery Mountain Regional Park
Come see the best film ever made about our desert animals! All ages will love this exciting movie on the giant screen inside our air-conditioned Nature Center. You will see desert animals do things you never thought possible – like scorpions dancing! This real-life Disney movie is both educational and highly entertaining. Laughter is guaranteed! As a bonus, watch us feed our snakes after the movie. Feel free to bring snacks and drinks with you (no glass bottles), otherwise, concessions are available inside our Nature Center.

Know and Go Scorpion Hunt - Lake Pleasant
Lake Pleasant Regional Park
This is a fun activity for the family. Wear close toed shoes, bring your water, flashlight and if you have it a blacklight flashlight. You may also borrow a blacklight flashlight from the Ranger. Don’t worry Mom, it is a “No Touch” hunt, and we stay on the trail. Come learn about scorpions and get a close look at these creepy critters. Hunt ends by 9:00PM.

What has 8 legs, 2 pincers, and glows under a black light? SCORPIONS! Set out on a desert Description: What has 8 legs, 2 pincers, and glows under a black light? SCORPIONS! Set out on a desert exploration at night as we search for these fascinating creatures and find out just how cool these amazing arachnids really are. We will be hiking 1 mile, round trip, on the Goldmine Trail; bring plenty of water, proper hiking attire, and a black light. Black lights are available inside Visitor Center for purchase. Meet Ranger Tish at the Flagpole.
