“Sharing the Sky” - San Tan
San Tan Mountain Regional Park
We experience feelings of awe and wonder when looking at the night sky. Yet, many of us do not know much about what we are looking at. We know some are stars, some are planets, and some are closer than others. If you would like to learn some tricks about how to identify things in the night sky, then this program is for you. You may be surprised at how easy it is…and how fascinating! You will learn how to follow the arc of the big dipper to find the star Arcturus and then “spike” straight out from there to find the star Spica. Join us inside the Nature Center.

Perseids Meteor Shower Hike - San Tan
San Tan Mountain Regional Park
It’s fun to identify stars, planets, moon phases, and the space station, but sometimes its best to just go for a walk or throw out a blanket, lay on your backs, and gaze upon the night sky together. No explaining, no identifying…just looking up at the stars and experiencing the sense of awe. Tonight we will go for an easy stroll on the Stargazer Loop. We will make stops along the way to point out the Perseids Meteors and other stellar objects. Bring water. Wear closed-toed shoes. Meet at the Flag Pole. “If people sat outside and looked at the stars each night, I bet they’d live a lot differently” -Bill Watterson
