Coffee & Donuts Wakeup Meetup w/ Ranger Amy- Wet 'n' Wild Tickets!- Lousley Hill – McDowell Park

Saturday, 7/21/12 6:00am – 7:00am Coffee and Donuts Wakeup Meetup with Ranger Amy! Win Wet ‘n’ Wild Tickets! Who says you can’t have your hike and your coffee and donuts, too? Meet Ranger Amy at the top of Lousley Hill. Your reward for getting up early for the short hike to the top is cool iced coffee and donuts! Enjoy the view of Four Peaks and the McDowells before the heat of the day. Bring your binoculars, water and your travel coffee mug. Iced coffee and donuts will be provided. This is a fairly steep but short jaunt (1.2 mile loop) up Lousley Hill. Start at Lousley Hill Trailhead, go at your own pace, and ‘find the Ranger’ at the top. The first family (or individual or couple) to find the Ranger (*after 6am) will win Wet ‘n’ Wild Tickets!

As Marie Curie, French Physicist and two-time Nobel Prize recipient said “Nothing in life is to be feared. It is only to be understood.” Meet at Nature Center. NOTE: This program is part of the “County Parks are getting Wet ‘n’ Wild this summer” series and we will be raffling off a family-four pack at the end of the program.

Desert Mythbusters - "Brown-Bag It" with Ranger B - Usery Park

Are rattlesnakes really dangerous? Can you drink water from a cactus? Do “jumping cactus” really jump? Do the arms of a saguaro help to keep it balanced? If you would like to know the answers to these questions, or any questions you may have about our desert, then this one-hour presentation is for you! Bring your sandwich to the “Brown-Bag It” series inside our Nature Center as Ranger B busts some myths about the desert. Location: Nature Center.

Archery 101 - Usery Park
Usery Mountain Regional Park
Interested in archery? Curious about how to shoot a bow? Come to Usery Park and find out! You will discover how fun archery really is! Participants will experience a fun and safe introduction to recreational and international-style target archery. Equipment will be provided. This class is open to anyone ages 8 and up. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. Advanced registration is required. Please call the park at 480-984-0032 to register. Limited to 20 participants. Please bring water, hats, and closed-toe shoes. Meet at the Archery Range. NOTE: This program is part of the “County Parks are getting Wet ‘n’ Wild this Summer” promotion. At the end of the program, we will be raffling off a free family four-pack (4 free tickets to the Wet ‘n’ Wild Water Park – a $160 value!!).
