Fridays Fitness Hike *DIFFICULT* – OUTSIDE OF PARK- Tom's Thumb Trailhead- 128th St
McDowell Mountain Regional Park
Fridays Fitness Hike – Various locations in Park- ALL Fridays. Come to one or all of the Fitness Hiking Series, every Friday. We build up to a longer hike at the end of the month. Please wear sturdy shoes & bring plenty of water. This week's hike starts OUTSIDE OF THE PARK at the Tom's Thumb Trailhead, off of 128th Street in Scottsdale (off of Dynamite). This is a difficult hike that involves a good amount of elevation and loose rocks. A hiking pole is recommended for this hike that starts in the McDowell Sonoran Preserve. Please call the Park if you need directions to the Trailhead.

Summer Reading Program, Sonoran Style! - White Tank Mtn.
White Tank Mountains Regional Park
Hey kids! Take a break and join Ranger Jessica in the Nature Center classroom for some reading and coloring time. A variety of fun books about the Sonoran Desert will be available for you to read so you can earn some points toward your summer reading goal. You will also earn an extra 25 points for attending the program. Maybe Ranger Jessica will even introduce you to one of the friendly snakes that live at the Nature Center! This program open house-style (arrive when you want and stay as long as you want) and is geared toward children under 12.

All About Scorpions - San Tan
San Tan Mountain Regional Park
On a warm summer night, scouring the desert floor, the scorpions of San Tan look for their next meal. But who are the “BIG 3” of San Tan? Learn about the facts, myths and reputation behind these mysterious creatures during a short presentation in the Visitor Center. Once you have learned all about scorpions you will be ready to meet them face to face on an exciting Scorpion Scavenger Hunt starting at 8pm.

Movie Night in the Park: "Untamed Americas: Deserts" - Usery Park
Usery Mountain Regional Park
When it comes to desert animals, the truth is often stranger than fiction! How about a mouse that howls? A lizard that uses chemical weapons? Penguins in the desert? Moths with sonar-jamming technology? This new Nat Geo movie will highlight the strange and spectacular animals that call the desert “home.” Feel free to bring snacks and drinks with you (no glass bottles), otherwise, concessions are available. Location: Nature Center.

Scorpion Scavenger Hunt - San Tan
San Tan Mountain Regional Park
What has 8 legs, 2 pincers, and glows under a black light? SCORPIONS! Set out on a desert exploration at night as we search for these fascinating creatures and find out just how cool these amazing arachnids really are. We will be hiking 1 mile, round trip, on the Goldmine Trail; bring plenty of water, proper hiking attire, and a black light. Black lights are available inside Visitor Center for purchase. Meet Ranger Tish at the Flagpole.
