Archery 101 a - Cave Creek Regional Park
Cave Creek Regional Park
Interested in archery? Why not give it a try? Participants will experience a fun and safe basic introduction to recreational and international-style target archery. Equipment is provided. This program is open to anyone ages 8 and older. Children must be accompanied by an adult! Please bring water and wear closed-toed shoes. ***Advance registration is required! To register, contact Ranger Mark at: markpaulat@mail.maricopa.gov ***Space is limited so register early! *Please Note: GPS and other mapping services may provide incorrect directions. To get to the park from Carefree Highway turn North on 32nd Street and follow to park. 32nd St. becomes CAVE CREEK PARKWAY.

Bird Walk with Sonoran Audubon Society - Estrella
Estrella Mountain Park
Join knowledgeable guides from the Sonoran Audubon Society for an easy walk to discover the bird life of Estrella Park! When you think about it, everyone is a bird watcher- it's just more fun to know what you are looking at! Meet at the Nature Center. (Rain cancels event)

Life along the Creek - Spur Cross
Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area
June 14 Saturday 8:00 am Life along the Creek (moderate) Join interpretive ranger Kevin Smith as we look at the plants and animals that live in the riparian area along Cave Creek. The hike will take us through the Jewel of the Creek and along the lower section of the Dragonfly Trail for a distance of approximately 1.5 miles. Some rock-hopping may be required. NOTE: This program is part of the “County Parks are getting Wet ‘n’ Wild this Summer” promotion. At the end of the program, we will give away a free family four-pack (4 free tickets to the Wet ‘n’ Wild Water Park)

Interested in archery? Curious about how to shoot a bow? Come to Usery Park and find out! You will discover how fun archery really is! Participants will experience a fun and safe introduction to recreational and international-style target archery. Equipment will be provided. This class is open to anyone ages 8 and up. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. Please bring water, hats, and closed-toe shoes. Meet at the Archery Range. 8:30-10am. No registration – just show up and have some fun!

For those who have successfully completed “Archery 101”, we will open the range for some “practice” time. We will close the range promptly at 3pm. “Little Explorers” For Kids: Bugs - San Tan
San Tan Mountain Regional Park
What’s buggin’ you? We are quite familiar with mosquitos, flies, and certain spiders and scorpions. But did you know they are the most abundant critters on earth? And can you tell the difference between the two? If you would like to know more about “bugs” then this program is just for you. Meet Ranger Tish inside the Nature Center for creepy crawly hands-on experience as you create your own arthropod.

Summer Reading Program, Sonoran Style! - White Tank Mtn.
White Tank Mountains Regional Park
Hey kids! Is your older brother or sister headed to the White Tank library to tie-dye a shirt? Tag along and join Ranger Jessica in the Nature Center classroom for some reading and coloring time. A variety of fun books about the Sonoran Desert will be available for you to read so you can earn some points toward your summer reading goal. You will also earn an extra 25 points for attending the program. Maybe Ranger Jessica will even introduce you to one of the friendly snakes that live at the Nature Center! This program is geared toward children under 12.

Summer Night Ride Series-
McDowell Mountain Regional Park
The summer night mountain bike series will be held on Saturday evenings at 7:30 p.m. All riders must have a helmet, a lighting system designed for mountain biking and battery power for 3 hours of riding. Riders must sign-in and sign-out, two hours are allowed to ride the Competitive Track. It is highly recommended that you ride this track in day light before coming out for a night ride. The sign in/out sheets are available at 6:30 for riders who might need extra time in order to be back by 10pm. NO RIDERS WILL BE ALLOWED TO START AFTER 8:00 p.m.
