Fridays Fitness Hike – OUTSIDE OF PARK- Tom's Thumb Trailhead- 128th St
McDowell Mountain Regional Park
Fridays Fitness Hike – Various locations in Park- ALL Fridays. Come to one or all of the Fitness Hiking Series, every Friday. We build up to a longer hike at the end of the month. Please wear sturdy shoes & bring plenty of water. This week's hike starts OUTSIDE OF THE PARK at the Tom's Thumb Trailhead, off of 128th Street in Scottsdale (off of Dynamite). We will hike into the park and explore the Marcus Landslide area, from this trailhead that starts in the McDowell Sonoran Preserve. Please call the Park if you need directions to the Trailhead.

Dog Walk - Estrella
Estrella Mountain Park
Bring your best friend out for a walk in the park. We will walk the Coldwater trail, a wide trail that there will be plenty of room for Fido’s and Fifi’s to explore safely. Learn some tips from Ranger Amy for safe hiking with your dog. Dogs must be on a leash. Meet at the Coldwater Trailhead.

Friday Fitness Series #3
Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area
April 19 Friday 8:00 am Friday Fitness Series #3 (moderate) Join us for this third of a series of Friday walks in April which progressively get more difficult each week. This third walk will be the Dragonfly/Spur Cross loop for a total of about 3.5 miles. Participants need not be tri-athletes, just ordinary folks who would like to add diversity to their existing walking program. Wear sturdy shoes and bring plenty of water.

Friday Fitness Hike - San Tan
San Tan Mountain Regional Park
Health and fitness go together hand and hand, but instead of being in a gym all day, head outside and take pleasure in the scenic beauty of the San Tans. Breathe in the fresh air, take in the sights and enjoy a few fitness facts along the way. On this 2.2-mile fitness hike we will be discussing the do’s and don’ts of hiking in the heat. This program is part of a hiking series that will take place on select Friday’s each month with a new fitness facts topic for each hike.

Home School Program with the Science Center: "Light, Lasers, and Color" - Usery Park
Usery Mountain Regional Park
Explore the concept of light and how it functions! Using lasers, experience some fun activities making light move through interesting paths. Finally, take light apart as you study color. Recommended for ages 6-10, accompanied by an adult. NOTE: Pre-registration is required through the Arizona Science Center. To register, please call the Arizona Science Center at 602-716-2000 ext. 229, or email Arizona Science Center members: $15 for the first parent and child and $5 for each additional child. Non-members: $20 for the first parent and child and $5 for each additional child. There is also a $6 per vehicle entry fee to enter Usery Mountain Regional Park. Location: Usery Park Nature Center.

Sunset on the Quartz Trail Hike - Cave Creek Regional Park
Cave Creek Regional Park
Ranger Mark will lead you on this hike which offers spectacular scenic vistas from the upper Sonoran Desert to the valleys below! This moderate 3.5 mile hike will leave from the Nature Center. If you have a blacklight you may even be able to spy some scorpions! Bring a hat, sturdy shoes, a flashlight, and plenty of water! And don't forget your camera!

Birding By Ear- Desert Learning Series program- McDowell Park
McDowell Mountain Regional Park
Ever heard a bird fly by and thought..."oh, if I -only- knew bird songs"? Well, now is your chance. Learn bird calls and laugh at...I mean, along with, Ranger Amy, lifelong birdwatcher and self-proclaimed bird nerd and bird call imitator. We'll focus only on birds you're likely to see in your desert backyard. In addition to the presentation, we'll discuss free and/or inexpensive multi-media tools you can use to help you identify 'mystery birds' in the field. Meet at the Visitor Center. This multi-media program takes place in our Nature Center.

Family Moonlight Walk at White Tank Park
White Tank Mountains Regional Park
Walking into the Waterfall Canyon in the moonlight will give you a different perspective on the beauty of the Uplands Desert. We will discuss the unique changes in the desert after the sun sets. Bring your scorpion lights and a flashlight. No dogs please.
