| Fridays Fitness Hike – Various locations in Park- ALL Fridays. Come to one or all of the Fitness Hiking Series, every Friday. We build up to a longer hike at the end of the month. Please wear sturdy shoes & bring plenty of water. This week's hike starts OUTSIDE OF THE PARK at the Tom's Thumb Trailhead, off of 128th Street in Scottsdale (off of Dynamite). We will hike into the park and explore the Marcus Landslide area, from this trailhead that starts in the McDowell Sonoran Preserve. Please call the Park if you need directions to the Trailhead. |

Breathe in the fresh air, take in the sights and enjoy a few fitness facts along the way. On this 2.2-mile fitness hike we will be discussing the do’s and don’ts of hiking in the heat. This program is part of a hiking series that will take place on select Friday’s each month with a new fitness facts topic for each hike. |

| Explore the concept of light and how it functions! Using lasers, experience some fun activities making light move through interesting paths. Finally, take light apart as you study color. Recommended for ages 6-10, accompanied by an adult. NOTE: Pre-registration is required through the Arizona Science Center. Learn bird calls and laugh at...I mean, along with, Ranger Amy, lifelong birdwatcher and self-proclaimed bird nerd and bird call imitator. We'll focus only on birds you're likely to see in your desert backyard. In addition to the presentation, we'll discuss free and/or inexpensive multi-media tools you can use to help you identify 'mystery birds' in the field. Meet at the Visitor Center. This multi-media program takes place in our Nature Center. |
