Birding Adventure - San Tan
San Tan Mountain Regional Park
Hit the trails early to catch the masters of the sky in action. This guided 2 mile hike will take you deep into the heart of prime birding territory. Enjoy learning birding skills from our local expert. Whether you’re after Roadrunners or Ravens, Humming or Hawks, San Tan holds the key to an unforgettable birding adventure.

Early Morning Paddle Tour of Great Blue Heron Island - Lake Pleasant
Lake Pleasant Regional Park
Yes, it is very early, but well worth the effort. Join the many paddlers who will be camping overnight after the Paddle Fest event. We will paddle out to an island with over 100 blue heron nesting. A great time to have your camera and binoculars! This paddling trip is under five miles and will be around two hours. Call 602-372-7460 x 202 for questions. We leave at 7AM sharp!

Archery 101 (Two class times available) - Usery Park
Usery Mountain Regional Park
Interested in archery? Curious about how to shoot a bow? Come to Usery Park and find out! You will discover how fun archery really is! Participants will experience a fun and safe introduction to recreational and international-style target archery. Equipment will be provided. This class is open to anyone ages 8 and up. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. Please bring water, hats, and closed-toe shoes. Meet at the Archery Range. Note: This same class is also offered at 10:30 AM. No registration – just show up and have some fun!

Are you new to Arizona? Are you curious about cactus and scared of snakes? If so, join us for an introductory experience to the Sonoran Desert. After a question-and-answer session, we will take an enjoyable quarter-mile walk on our scenic Desert Hawk Trail. Please bring water and closed-toe shoes. Location: Nature Center.

The Ranger will help to find the interesting things and we’ll discuss different composition techniques and perspectives. Bring your camera, and tripod, if you have one. You’ll also want to bring plenty of water and a hat. Wear sturdy shoes and meet at the Nature Center
