***CANCELLED***Desert Dwellers: The Hohokam - San Tan
San Tan Mountain Regional Park
From AD 1 to about 1450, the Hohokam lived in Central and Southern Arizona and northern Mexico. They constructed pit houses and ball courts and as sophisticated farmers they built the largest system of irrigation canals in pre-Columbian North America. Evidence of their lifeways, such as sharp-edged pieces of rocks and pottery fragments, offer clues to their existence but doesn’t explain how they mysteriously disappeared in the mid 1400s. Join Ranger Tish as we discuss the Hohokam culture. Meet in the Nature Center.
