Wildflower Hike for MMPC- meet OUTSIDE of Park - Dixie Mine Trail- McDowell
McDowell Mountain Regional Park
Join Ranger Amy to identify the gorgeous desert flowers that are blooming in the desert along the Dixie Mine Trail. This trail is moderate to difficult-- please bring more water than you think you'll need, and meet at the Golden Eagle trailhead in Fountain Hills. We will park just before the Guard Gate at the end of Golden Eagle Blvd, and walk into the park. Call the Park for more detailed directions to the Trailhead.

5th Annual Archaeology Expo - Spur Cross
Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area
March 22 Saturday 9am-3pm 5th Annual ARCHAEOLOGY EXPO AT SPUR CROSS Join the park staff as well as the Arizona Archaeology Society for this day of fun and learning. Sponsored by Desert Foothills Chapter, Arizona Archaeological Society, the Town of Cave Creek, Cave Creek Museum, and Maricopa County Parks. Hikes to archaeological sites, booths, crafts, pottery and flint-knapping demonstrations, and hands-on children activities will be featured. Check the website soon for a listing of guided hikes on this day.

Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area
March 22 Saturday 9am First Mesa Ruins Hike Join Spur Cross Ranger Kevin Smith and docents hiking to prehistoric Hohokam dwellings on First Mesa. This is a moderate 2.5 mile hike with some steep uphill walking. Allow a minimum of two hours and bring plenty of water.

"Just for Kids" - Toddler Cruise - Usery Park
Usery Mountain Regional Park
This 1-mile hike is designed for parents and caregivers with small children, ages 3 – 6. Along with Miss Lynn, the kids will howl like coyotes, do the “bobcat crawl” and learn how to hydrate by counting gulps of water on their fingers. We will explore the desert along the scenic Merkle Trail. The hard-smooth surface of this trail will accommodate wheelchairs and strollers. Please bring water, hats, and closed-toe shoes. Location: Area 6.

Join Ranger B on this quarter-mile stroll along the Desert Hawk Trail as he shares some useful facts about our edible desert plants. Please bring water and closed-toe shoes. Location: Nature Center.

5th Annual Archaeology Expo - Spur Cross - Hike #2
Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area
March 22 Saturday 10:30am Jewel of the Creek Hike Join the Desert Foothills Land Trust staff and docents on a journey through history at the Jewel and its unique geological formations. This is a one mile hike with a steep rocky trail down to the creek and requires crossing the creek twice with another rocky steep climb back to the top. Allow a minimum of 1.5 hours and bring plenty of water.

"Stargazing for Everyone" at McDowell Mountain Regional Park
McDowell Mountain Regional Park
Don’t settle for just wondering what’s above your head on a starry night, come out and LEARN about it! Tony and Carole La Conte are returning for another Stargazing event! After a fun introduction to astronomy, their amazing volunteers will fix their telescopes upon far away galaxies and nebulas that you will see for yourself! Stargazing is a fun and amazing way to start your weekend! We have special equipment for wheelchair access viewing. Please call and identify any special needs prior to attending one of our public programs. Bring lawnchairs and blankets to keep warm. Meet at Trailhead Staging Area.
