On Sunday, March 10, the Trailhead Staging Area parking area will be closed to the public until 9:00 a.m. Outbound traffic will have temporary delays between 8:00 a.m. and 8:45 a.m.

Rocks and Streams Walk - Spur Cross
Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area
March 10 Sunday 9:00 am Rocks and Streams Walk (moderate) Learn about the geology and streams of the Spur Cross region on a 2-hour walk with nationally-known earth science author, Thomas McGuire. Visit an abandoned gold mine, Nutcracker Rock and a Hohokam rock art site along Cottonwood Wash. Bring water and your natural curiosity. Meet in the Spur Cross parking area.

Interested in archery? Now is your chance to "check it out"! Participants who sign up for this program will experience a fun and safe basic introduction to recreational and international-style target archery. Equipment is provided. This archery program is open to anyone ages 8 and older. Children must be accompanied by an adult! Petroglyph Hike - Estrella Mountain Park
Estrella Mountain Park
On this 1.5-mile hike, you will see evidence of a past civilization, the Hohokam. The Park Ranger will take you to areas not usually accessible to the public. The trail is easy, but there will be some climbing involved, so be prepared. Meet at the Horseshoe Trailhead.

"Tails on Trails" - Dog Fitness Hike (Beginners Level) - Usery Park
Usery Mountain Regional Park
Fit dogs are happier, healthier, and display fewer behavioral problems. Tails on Trails will provide the opportunity to meet other dog hikers, learn safe hiking practices and dog trail etiquette. The fun, 1-mile hike along the level Merkle Trail is great for beginner hiker dogs. Please bring a short non-extendable leash, a small cleanup bag, and water for you and your dog. One dog per hiker, please. After completing this hike, you and your dog will be ready for our “Experienced Level” Dog Fitness Hike! Location: Area 6.

White Tank Mountains Regional Park
We will do a learning photo scavenger hunt (we won’t be collecting anything except memories) on the Mule Deer Trail. Limited to 15 children (each must be accompanied by at least one well behaved adult). No dogs please. Call ahead for reservations. Meet at the Nature Center at 11:00 a.m. You must pay the $6.00 park fee at the gate or at the Nature Center to join the hike. You can use the ticket to enter the Park proper after the event.

Meet the true creepy crawlies of the Desert in Meet the true creepy crawlies of the Desert in this indoor interpretive program. They may not be as dangerous as you think, once you get to know them...behind glass, of course. Find out why the saying that 'the smaller scorpions are the most dangerous' is an urban legend, what to do if you are bitten or stung, and why tarantulas may not be so bad after all. Ranger Amy will have some venomous critters such as scorpions, tarantulas, and snakes on hand so that you can get a closer look...if you dare! Program takes place in the Visitor Center.
