Bird Hikes - Estrella Mountain Regional Park
Estrella Mountain Park
Join knowledgeable folks from the Sonoran Audubon Society for an easy hike along the Gila River discovering the bird life of Estrella Park. Between the river habitat, the mesquite bosque, nearby farm fields, and the turf area, over 150 different species have been observed. We are likely to see up to 40 species, including: Herons, Egrets, Kingfishers, Ospreys, Hawks, Ibis, and Stilts. When you think about it, everyone is a birdwatcher-you can do it wherever or whoever you are-but it's more fun if you know what they are. Meet on Sunday at the Navy parking lot North. Bring your own binoculars and books if you have them, a limited number will be available if you don't. This hike series will be ending in April. Helpful Information: Rain cancels event.

Go-John Trail Hike - Cave Creek Regional Park
Cave Creek Regional Park
Join us for adventure as we explore the Go-John Trail! This will be a moderate to difficult 6 mile hike at an easy pace. We will stop half-way to have a snack. Ranger Mark will be your guide. Bring your snack,lots of water, a hat, & sturdy shoes. Meet at the Nature Center. And don't forget your camera!

Intro to Animal Tracking -Nursery Tank Trail– McDowell Park
McDowell Mountain Regional Park
Intro to Animal Tracking Ever wondered what animal left their mark on the trail before you? Even when we don’t see actual animals, we can determine which animals are in the Park through signs such as tracks and scat. On this short 0.6 mile round trip walk to the Nursery Tank pond, we’ll use the clues they left behind to find out which animals visited the night before. Meet at the Nursery Tank Trailhead.

Impress your friends! Update your status with pictures from your morning hike. Join Ranger Amy for this hike and see how many things there are to "like" about Estrella Park. This easy hike will be approximately 3-miles. There will be plenty of opportunity to stop for pictures so you can "share" with your friends! Please make sure to bring a camera, plenty of water and wear appropriate footwear. Meet at the Nature Center.

"Tails on Trails" Dog Fitness Hike (Experienced Level) - Usery Park
Usery Mountain Regional Park
Fit dogs are happier, healthier, and display fewer behavioral problems. Tails on Trails will provide the opportunity to meet other dog hikers, learn safe hiking practices and dog trail etiquette. The fun, 3-mile hike along the Blevins Trail is great for experienced hiker dogs. Please bring a short non-extendable leash, a small cleanup bag, and water for you and your dog. One dog per hiker, please. Note: A “Beginners Level” Dog Fitness Hike is also offered each month for those who feel they need the basics before advancing to this level. Location: Trail Staging Area.

Rocks and Streams Walk - Spur Cross
Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area
February 24 Sunday 2:00 pm Rocks and Streams Walk (moderate) Learn about the geology and streams of the Spur Cross region on a 2-hour walk with nationally-known earth science author, Thomas McGuire. Visit an abandoned gold mine, Nutcracker Rock and a Hohokam rock art site along Cottonwood Wash. Bring water and your natural curiosity. Meet in the Spur Cross parking area.
