Fridays Fitness Hike - *Meet @ Eagle’s Nest Trailhead*– Dixie Mine Trail - McDowell
McDowell Mountain Regional Park
ALL Fridays, 8:00am (Start Time) Fridays Fitness Hike – Various locations in Park Come to one or all of the Fitness Hiking Series, every Friday. It's a great way to meet people and get fit! We build up to a more strenuous hike at the end of the month. Please wear sturdy shoes & bring water. Meet at the Eagle’s Nest Trailhead, which is outside of the Park- at the end of Golden Eagle Blvd, for a hike on the beautiful Dixie Mine Trail. 6 miles. Note: this is a long hike, so bring a snack and more water than you think you'll need.

Desert Washes Walk - Spur Cross
Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area
February 22 Friday 9:00 am Desert Washes Walk (moderate) Come discover the fascinating world of a desert wash. This hike will feature the exploration of Cottonwood Wash which drains into Cave Creek. Along the way we will discuss desert washes and mesas and how the ecosystems differ. Long pants and sturdy shoes are recommended.

Bring your coffee to Usery Park and explore the endless possibilities of backyard birding with bird expert, Sandy Hornbaker. Learn how to attract different birds to your own backyard and what you must provide to your feathered friends. Ask Sandy what your responsibilities are as a backyard birdwatcher and what you can expect. Please bring binoculars and water. Location: Campsite 21 in the Buckhorn Campground.

Are you new to Arizona? Are you curious about cactus and scared of snakes? If so, join us for an introductory experience to the Sonoran Desert. After a question-and-answer session, we will take an enjoyable quarter-mile walk on our scenic Desert Hawk Trail. Please bring water and closed-toe shoes. Location: Nature Center.

Desert Birdwalk to Nursery Tank Pond. Bring your binocs and come on out. No previous birding experience is required, only an interest in birds! We’ll look for winter sparrows, phainopeplas (often called ‘black cardinals’) and signs of our resident owls on this level, easy walk. Meet at the Nursery Tank Trailhead.

If you would like to know the answers to these questions, or any questions you may have about wild horses, then this one-hour presentation is for you! Bring your sandwich to the “Brown-Bag It” series inside our Nature Center as Ranger B shares some amazing facts about these majestic creatures. Location: Nature Center.

Learn about the plants and animals that call San Tan home, and grab your cowboy hat for this exciting ride through the park. Horses must be reserved ahead of time through MD Ranch (480-331-7893). Spots are limited. Trail rides are available any time. Call to set up your own personalized horseback adventure.

Fireside with the Ranger - Cave Creek Regional Park
Cave Creek Regional Park
Join Ranger Mark at the Nature Center for a "Fireside" chat. He will provide the "fire" and answer your questions about the flora and fauna of the Sonoran Desert. We'll listen for owls, bats and coyotes and maybe even "call" back to them! Bring your marshmallows and hotdogs, (don't forget a stick to roast them on). Be sure to ask him about his adventure to Costa Rica! Cool!

Family Moonlight Walk at White Tank Park
White Tank Mountains Regional Park
Enjoy the moonlight and the desert night in winter on a hike along the Waterfall Trail. We are doing ½ moon because the full moon does not come up until quite late this month. This is a two mile walk. Meet at Area 6 at 7:00 pm. No dogs please.Dress warm.

Come see the best film ever made about our desert animals! All ages will love this exciting movie on the giant screen inside our air-conditioned Nature Center. You will see desert animals do things you never thought possible – like scorpions dancing! This real-life Disney movie is both educational and highly entertaining. Laughter is guaranteed! Feel free to bring snacks and drinks with you (no glass bottles), otherwise, concessions are available inside our Nature Center.
