Desert Holes - Cave Creek Regional Park
Cave Creek Regional Park
What lives down in the holes in the ground? What lives inside the holes in saguaros? Can you identify the animal by the hole that it makes? If you would like to know the answers to these questions, or any questions you may have about desert holes, then this 1.5 mile hike is for you! Bring your water and wear a sturdy pair of shoes. Meet at the Nature Center.

Find the Ranger - Wind Cave Trail - Usery Park
Usery Mountain Regional Park
This open-house style program features our ranger hiking along the Wind Cave Trail and stopping to talk to park visitors. Our ranger will show off his “Backpack of Knowledge” and be available to answer questions about the park, discuss park history, identify desert plants, or even explain which animals call Usery Park "home". Carry ample water.

Sonoran Desert 101 - Spur Cross
Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area
December 4 Sunday 9:00 am Sonoran Desert 101 (easy) Join interpretive ranger Kevin Smith on a hike through the beautiful upland vegetation in Spur Cross. Learn about the ecology of the Sonoran desert and spend an enjoyable 2 hours of hiking slowly and enjoying nature. We encourage you to bring binoculars if you have them.

Exploring San Tan Level 3 - 3 miles - Summit Hike
San Tan Mountain Regional Park
With over 17 miles of trail, exploring San Tan Mountain Regional Park can be a little overwhelming. No worries, join Ranger Adam for a fun series of hikes that will progressively increase your hiking skills and take you all over the park. On this hike we will be hiking to the top of the Goldmine Trail for an amazing view (roughly 3-miles). There will be moderate to difficult elevation gain. Please bring plenty of water.

Tails on Trails - Dog Fitness Hike (Beginners Level) - Usery Park
Usery Mountain Regional Park
Fit dogs are happier, healthier, and display fewer behavioral problems. Tails on Trails will provide the opportunity to meet other dog hikers, learn safe hiking practices and dog trail etiquette. The fun, 1-mile hike along the level Merkle Trail is great for beginner hiker dogs. Please bring a short non-extendable leash, a small cleanup bag, and water for you and your dog. One dog per hiker, please. After completing this hike, you and your dog will be ready for our “Experienced Level” Dog Fitness Hike! Location: Area 6.

Rocks and Streams Walk - Spur Cross
Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area
December 4 Sunday 2:00 pm Rocks and Streams Walk (moderate) Learn about the geology and streams of the Spur Cross region on a 2-hour walk with nationally-known earth science author, Thomas McGuire. Visit an abandoned gold mine, Nutcracker Rock and a Hohokam rock art site along Cottonwood Wash. Bring water and your natural curiosity. Meet in the Spur Cross parking area.
