CLASS FULL Having Fun with Archery - Archery 101 (7AM) CLASS FULL Lake Pleasant
Lake Pleasant Regional Park
*** THIS CLASS IS FULL***Learn to shoot a recurve, compound, and cross bow. This 1.5 hour class is the first step in learning archery. Wear comfortable clothes, closed toe shoes and bring some cold water. All equipment is provided. Call 602-372-7460 x 202 , and leave name, phone number, and how many people wishing to attend. Ranger will call to let you know if thre is room in the class. Follow the "Archery 101" signs from the main contact station to the group campground. You may also drop by just before 7AM to see if there is room in the class.

FALL TRAIL WORK - VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
McDowell Mountain Regional Park
Sauturday, October 6th between 7:00 am and 10:00 am work will be done on the Competitive Track. Now that the monsoons seem to be over, we can get out and make some needed repairs. Jeremy Graham, Race Director for the 12/24 Hours of Fury has offered a discount of 25% on your registration fee to anyone who comes out and works the 3 hours on Saturday, 10-6-12. Meet in the Comp Track parking lot before 7 am.

Exploring the Dragonfly Trail - Spur Cross
Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area
October 6 Saturday 8:00 am Exploring the Dragonfly Trail (moderate) Come along with park ranger Kevin Smith on this exploration of the newest trail in the Spur Cross trail system, the Dragonfly Trail. On this moderate 3.5 mile hike we will visit a prehistoric rock art site and also stroll along a beautiful section of riparian habitat on Cave Creek.

New to the Area Hike
San Tan Mountain Regional Park
Are you new to Arizona? Are you curious about cactus and scared of snakes? If so, join us for this introductory experience to the Sonoran Desert. After a brief hiking introduction, we will head out on an enjoyable 2.2mile hike on the Stargazer Trails to learn more about San Tan Mountain Regional Park and the beautiful, Sonoran Desert. Don't forget to bring plenty of water, sunscreen, and appropriate hiking attire.

Have you ever seen a reptile eat? Join the staff after your morning hike and see how our cold-blooded residents eat their meals for yourself! Frozen rodent entrees will be served to the critters. Come learn about the important roles these creatures play in our dynamic food web. Feeding takes place at the Nature Center.

Kids Photo Hike at White Tank Park
White Tank Mountains Regional Park
Come to the White Tank Mountain Park Nature Center for a talk about the cold blooded creatures that inhabit our desert. This is not an outdoor event but you are welcome to hike any one of our many trails after the talk. On display will be some venomous creatures and a few other creepy crawlies of the desert. White Tank Park Nature Center classroom at 11:00 am.

Panning for Gold
San Tan Mountain Regional Park
Yeee Haww! There’s gold in these here mountains, and we need your help finding it. Take your chance at panning for real gold and hear the story of San Tan’s RICH history along the way. Guests will be able to find, and take home, our “Family Fun Gold Nuggets” as well as participate in a separate gold panning with a real sample of gold. Come experience the San Tan Gold Rush and see if you have what it takes to be a prospector.
