Trailhead Staging Area Closed this weekend
McDowell Mountain Regional Park
The 11th Annual 100 mile race will be held on the Pemberton Trail Saturday and until noon on Sunday. As a result of the congestion in the Trailhead Staging Area all day on Saturday and until early afternoon on Sunday it will be closed to non-participating park visitors. The Pemberton Trail will remain open to all park visitors but we ask that you access the trail from other locations around the park. And please, yield to the runners who are trying to run 100 miles!

Hohokam Houses - the Ruins of Spur Cross
Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area
October 26 Saturday 8:00 am Ruins of Spur Cross (moderate) Join us for this 2.5 mile hike that will introduce you to the rich archaeological history of the area. See evidence of prehistoric Hohokam dwellings and learn about their culture as we trek on up to one of their mesa-top compounds.

Big Black Birds with Brains! - Cave Creek Regional Park

Join us in the Nature Center where our Special Guest Speaker, Joe Ford, will give a presentation on “Ravens (and other Corvids)—Myths and Legends”. These intelligent birds are fun to observe in their natural environment and Joe will explain more about their interesting, and entertaining behaviors. Joe holds several degrees in education and a Masters Degree in Natural Science from the University of Oklahoma. After teaching 42 years at the junior high, high school and college levels, he retired to Sun City, Arizona. He is a board member in the Sonoran Audubon Society and a member of the Sun City Rockhounds, among many other interests. 21th Anniversary Open House and Halloween Howl! - Cave Creek Regional Park

Join us at the Nature Center for an evening of fun as we celebrate the Park’s 21th anniversary with an Open House, Halloween style! *At 4pm, Joe Ford from the Sonoran Audubon Society will be giving a fun presentation called, “Big Black Birds with Brains”, all about those crazy Ravens and their Kin! *At 6pm, Meet our Special Guest Critters, their Handlers, and other Special Guests! *At 7pm, We will have a “Coyote Howling” Contest! Be sure to give it your best Wail! *Also beginning at 7pm-9pm, We will have Professional Stargazers letting you peer through their BIG Telescopes! *At 8pm, We will have a “Costume Contest”! Judges will be looking for; the “Most Original”, the best “Desert Critter”, the “Cutest”, and the best “Junior Ranger” costumes! Haunted HOWLoween Bash - San Tan
San Tan Mountain Regional Park
Join us for a night full of fright and delight as we discover the beauty of the Sonoran Desert in the evening hours. Enjoy engaging animal presentations, frightfully fun shows, face painting, spooktacular activities and don't forget to get your picture taken at our Fairytale Photo station. Participate in the FRIENDS costume contest (costume contest categories are scariest, friendliest and most creative) for a chance to win a cool prize. Set out on a quarter-mile adventure along the Trick or Treat Trail while listening to frightening Halloween classics for kids. Don’t forget to wear your Halloween costumes and bring a bag or bucket to collect treats along the way. Flashlights are permitted and encouraged for the hike. Guides will be stationed along the trails for assistance. The hike and program is fun for all ages, so remember to bring the entire family. To expedite entry into the Park, it is recommended to bring exact cash or annual passes for entry. Event presented by the Friends of San Tan Mountain Regional Park.

Pleasant Paddlers Program Presents The Haunted Paddle - Lake Pleasant
Lake Pleasant Regional Park
Do you really want to have some early Halloween Fun? Well this is it, a very fun haunted paddle. Grab your paddlecraft, and a fun mask or scary kayak decorations and come have some fun in the dark! Wearing life vest are mandatory, just in case we scare you out of your kayak. We will meet at the end of Desert Tortoise Road, look for signs leading from the front gate to the launch site. Paddle duration is around two hours, with a stop in the haunted cove. Who is gonna find the hidden candy treasure?

Special Guests Tony and Carole La Conte and their crew will help you “Explore The Universe Through their Telescopes!” Learn star names, see constellations, and listen to stories of the night sky. View the moon, planets, star clusters, nebula, galaxies, and more through their telescopes. We encourage you to bring your digital camera and binoculars to enjoy the views. Dress appropriately and bring chairs or blankets for your comfort. NOTE: This outdoor event is subject to changes due to weather.
