Fridays Fitness Hike *DIFFICULT* – OUTSIDE OF PARK- Tom's Thumb Trailhead- 128th St
McDowell Mountain Regional Park
Fridays Fitness Hike – Various locations in Park- ALL Fridays. Come to one or all of the Fitness Hiking Series, every Friday. We build up to a longer hike at the end of the month. Please wear sturdy shoes & bring plenty of water. This week's hike starts OUTSIDE OF THE PARK at the Tom's Thumb Trailhead, off of 128th Street in Scottsdale (off of Dynamite). This is a difficult hike that involves a good amount of elevation and loose rocks. A hiking pole is recommended for this hike that starts in the McDowell Sonoran Preserve. Please call the Park if you need directions to the Trailhead.

Fitness Friday at Spur Cross
Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area
October 25 Friday 8:00 am Fitness Friday (moderate) Get your day started with a two to three mile brisk, non-interpretive walk. Participants need not be tri-athletes, just ordinary folks who would like to add diversity to their existing walking program. Wear sturdy shoes and bring plenty of water.

Snake Feeding
White Tank Mountains Regional Park
You can learn about the habits of some reptiles of the desert by coming into the nature center during feeding time. Caution--creatures are fed live animals, so this may be upsetting to some people or small children.

All About Scorpions - Usery Park
Usery Mountain Regional Park
How dangerous are scorpions? How can we protect ourselves from them? How do they survive and thrive in our desert? If you would like to know the answers to these questions, or any questions you may have about scorpions, then this one-hour presentation is for you! Bring your sandwich to the “Brown-Bag It” series inside our Nature Center as Ranger B shares some amazing facts about these desert dwellers. Location: Nature Center. Watch us feed our snakes after the program at 7pm. Then join our “Scorpion Hunt” at 7:30pm at no extra cost!

Haunted Gila Trail - Estrella
Estrella Mountain Park
Treat your little ghosts and goblins to a nighttime experience in the desert! This Ranger guided walk will be on the 0.5-mile barrier free loop trail. There are lots of spooky things in the desert so it is the perfect place to scare up some Halloween fun! Costumes are encouraged! Meet at the Gila Trailhead.

Scorpion Hunt (Last one of the year!) - Usery Park
Usery Mountain Regional Park
Did you know that scorpions glow in the dark under a blacklight? Join Ranger B as he leads us on this fun and safe night walk to find these elusive desert dwellers (using our eyes only). You will learn cool facts about these amazing creatures and sharpen your spotting skills! All ages will enjoy this casual one-hour/one-mile walk. Please wear closed-toe shoes and bring water and a flashlight (blacklights are recommended and are for sale for $10, batteries and tax included). No pets, please. Location: Trail Staging Area. Join our “All About Scorpions” program inside our Nature Center at 6pm and our snake feeding at 7pm at no extra cost!
