Fridays Fitness Hike- *New Trail* - Escondido Trail (meet at Trailhead Staging Area)- McDowell
McDowell Mountain Regional Park
Fridays Fitness Hike – Various locations in Park- ALL Fridays Come to one or all of the Fitness Hiking Series, every Friday. We build up to a longer hike at the end of the month. Please wear sturdy shoes & bring plenty of water. This week, meet at the Trailhead Staging Area for a 6+ mile hike on the brand new Escondido Trail.

Feathered Friends with Caleb - Estrella
Estrella Mountain Park
Birding is a great activity for people of all ages. This program will introduce youth and adults to the exciting world of birding. Join Caleb, a rising star in the world of birding, as he introduces you to his passion, birding! We will start off in the classroom to learn some birding basics, before heading out on a walk to practice our newly acquired skills. This program is geared to youth and beginner birders. Bring your curiousity and binoculars if you have them. Meet at the Nature Center.

Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area
January 3 Friday 9:00 am Friday Fitness Series #1 (moderate) Join us for this first of a series of Friday walks in January which will get progressively more difficult each week. This first walk will be on the Metate/Spur Cross loop for a total of about 2 miles. Wear sturdy shoes and bring plenty of water.

"Just for Kids" - Desert Scavenger Hunt - Usery Park
Usery Mountain Regional Park
Join Ranger B on this exciting scavenger hunt as we solve riddles and find things in our desert (using our eyes only). Not only will we have a lot of fun but we will also learn amazing things about our desert plants and animals! Free posters will be given to the top five winners. The 1-mile Merkle Trail offers universal access and the hard-smooth surface of this trail will accommodate wheelchairs and strollers. Please bring water and closed-toe shoes. Location: Meet at Area 6.

Bring your coffee to Usery Park and explore the endless possibilities of backyard birding with bird expert, Sandy Hornbaker. Learn how to attract different birds to your own backyard and what you must provide to your feathered friends. Ask Sandy what your responsibilities are as a backyard birdwatcher and what you can expect. Please bring binoculars and water. Location: Campsite 21 in the Buckhorn Campground.

Join us in the visitor center amphitheater for a campfire program on Lake Pleasant's history and some of the surrounding area. Bring chairs and blankets to sit on and keep you warm. Great time to ask the Ranger questions about the park.

Movie Night in the Park: "The Living Desert" - Usery Park
Usery Mountain Regional Park
Come see the best film ever made about our desert animals! All ages will love this exciting movie on the giant screen inside our air-conditioned Nature Center. You will see desert animals do things you never thought possible – like scorpions dancing! This real-life Disney movie is both educational and highly entertaining. Laughter is guaranteed! As a bonus, watch us feed our snakes after the movie. Feel free to bring snacks and drinks with you (no glass bottles), otherwise, concessions are available inside our Nature Center.

Stargazing for Everyone - San Tan
San Tan Mountain Regional Park
Come watch the sky with us! Look through telescopes (setup for your viewing pleasure) and enjoy a slide presentation under the stars. Learn the names of stars, see the constellations, and listen to stories of the night sky. When visible, view the craters of the moon, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and the rings of Saturn. Bring lawn chairs or blankets for your comfort. Information about the Challenger Learning Center of Arizona will be provided. This is a fun night out! Come alone or bring your entire family or group. We encourage you to bring your binoculars or family telescope and enjoy the views from San Tan Mountain Regional Park.
