Competitive Track will be CLOSED - Saturday
McDowell Mountain Regional Park
Due to a special event being held on the Competitive Track on Saturday, January 19th the track will be closed to non-competitors. It is expected that the racing will be over and the track will re-open by 2:00 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.

Flora of Spur Cross
Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area
January Saturday 9:00 am Flora of Spur Cross (easy) Spur Cross ranges in elevation from 2400' in the Cave Creek drainage to over 3900' at the top of Elephant Mountain and contains a broad diversity of plantlife. Join us on this easy 2 hour hike through the Jewel of the Creek and lower Dragonfly Trail as we take a look at some of the common plants of the conservation area.

Do you drink coffee on your back porch Saturday mornings wondering about the names of the little birds flittering about? Bring your coffee to Usery Park and explore the endless possibilities of backyard birding with bird expert, Sandy Hornbaker. Learn how to attract different birds to your own backyard and what you must provide to your feathered friends. Ask Sandy what your responsibilities are as a backyard birdwatcher and what you can expect. Please bring binoculars and water. Location: Campsite 21 in the Buckhorn Campground.

Clay Mine Hike - Cave Creek Regional Park

Join us for adventure as we explore the Clay Mine! This will be an easy 2 mile hike (round trip). Once inside, we'll discuss the history of this mine and learn how its contents were used to "cure what ailed ya"! We'll supply the hard hats. You bring water, a flashlight, & sturdy shoes. Meet at the Nature Center parking lot and follow the signs to the mine. This is an "open house" format, so you may come and go at your convenience during the designated time slot. The mine will be closed promptly at 1pm.

Lombard, as he shares a wealth of information about the geology of the East Valley on this 1-mile interactive walk. Bring your curiosities and questions to Usery Park and discover lots of amazing things about our local geology! The well-manicured Merkle Trail offers universal access and the hard-smooth surface of this trail accommodates wheelchairs and strollers. Location: Area 6.

Bryan is an accomplished photographer and will be showing some of his best work on his favorite subjects, …snakes! He is very knowledgable in this field of study and will happily talk about snakes, all day, ….if you let him! Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to learn from an expert! Campground Nature Walk - Usery Park
Usery Mountain Regional Park
Join park host, Sandy Hornbaker, for a late afternoon sojourn through our campground and nature trail on a quest to spot desert wildlife and plants. Wildlife sightings are not guaranteed, but bring binoculars, your afternoon tea, and a little patience. Be prepared to walk one to two miles. Please bring water, hats, and closed-toe shoes. Stargazing for Everyone - San Tan
San Tan Mountain Regional Park
Come watch the sky with us! Look through telescopes (setup for your viewing pleasure) and enjoy a slide presentation under the stars. Learn the names of stars, see the constellations, and listen to stories of the night sky. When visible, view the craters of the moon, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and the rings of Saturn. Bring lawn chairs or blankets for your comfort. Information about the Challenger Learning Center of Arizona will be provided. This is a fun night out! Come alone or bring your entire family or group. We encourage you to bring your binoculars or family telescope and enjoy the views from San Tan Mountain Regional Park.
