San Tan Shredders Mountain Bike Group - San Tan
San Tan Mountain Regional Park
Join us again for another exciting mountain bike ride among the beautiful San Tan Mountains. Most group rides are comprised of riders from all various skill levels, ages and fitness levels, but we all share the common interest of riding mountain bikes. “No Rider Left Behind” is our policy, because we ride together in groups based upon your riding levels. This is your opportunity to be around others who are passionate about mountain biking as a sport to have fun. We offer help when needed so you can gain new skills and confidence while on the trails. Come out and enjoy the great views of the San Tan Mountain Regional Park and the quiet get away from the everyday noise. This is a great way to get some exercise, have fun and meet some awesome people. Also feel free to join the San Tan Shredders group at www.meetup.com and sign up for other posted rides within the San Tan park. A helmet is required for safety reasons and please bring plenty of water, an extra inner tube and 2 sources of light if this happens to be a night ride. Meet under flagpole.

Elephant Mountain Fortress Hike - Spur Cross
Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area
January 18 Saturday 9:00 am Elephant Mountain Fortress Hike (strenuous) Join us for a 7 mile / 5 hour roundtrip trek into the backcountry to one of the premier archaeological sites in the conservation area. Participants need to be in good condition and familiar with what hiking on primitive trails for this distance entails. Participants must bring at least one liter of water. We recommend you have a hat, & dress in layers. No dogs on this hike please.

Get Fit with a Lake View Hike #3 - Lake Pleasant
Lake Pleasant Regional Park
Try something new, and come hike in this fun wash. We will hike to the water's edge and up and down this wash for a great workout. This is a very good place to see wildlife, so keep a sharp eye! Come through the north entry and make the first right onto Cottonwood Lane and follow it to the parking area (follow the "hike" signs). This hike has some small hills, sand and rock.

"Tails on Trails" - Dog Fitness Hike - Usery Park
Usery Mountain Regional Park
Fit dogs are happier, healthier, and display fewer behavioral problems. “Tails on Trails” will provide the opportunity to meet other dog hikers and learn safe hiking practices as well as dog trail etiquette. This fun, 1-mile hike along the level Merkle Trail is great for beginner hiker dogs. Please bring a short non-extendable leash, a small cleanup bag, and water for you and your dog. One dog per hiker, please. Location: Area 6.

For those who completed our “Archery 101” class, this class will take you to the next level! Participants will learn about field target archery, discover how to improve their accuracy, and enjoy some friendly competition. Equipment will be provided. Participants must be graduates of our “Archery 101” class. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. Please bring water, hats, and closed-toe shoes. Meet at the Archery Range. 10 AM - Noon. No registration – just show up and have some fun!

Explore the Clay Mine! - Cave Creek Regional Park
Cave Creek Regional Park
Join us for adventure as we explore the Clay Mine! Inside we’ll discuss the history of this site and learn how its contents were used to “cure what ailed ya”! Bring water, a flashlight, and your camera. No pets, please. Park at the Nature Center and follow the directions at the trailhead kiosk to the “Clay Mine”. This program is in “open house” format so you may participate at your convenience during the scheduled time frame. The last tour is at: 1:30pm.

Roadrunner Nature Trail Hike - Lake Pleasant
Lake Pleasant Regional Park
Join Frank Meyerholtz our volunteer park naturalist for a very interesting hike above the shoreline of Lake Pleasant. This hike is slow paced with several stops to investigate the desert. The hike starts at the visitor center and is around two miles / 1.5 hour hike.

How do you tell one brown bird from the next, and what are the first three items to look for as the little rascal flits off? Are you already a novice but interested in keeping a yearly, state or national bird list? Bird expert, Sandy Hornbaker, will talk about bird habitat, behavior, range, etc. as we go in search of the native birds in this area. Please bring binoculars, water, and closed-toe shoes. If needed, we have binoculars to borrow. Location: Nature Center.

Adult Moonlight Hike - White Tank Mtn.
White Tank Mountains Regional Park
Experience White Tank in a different light - moonlight! Join park staff and volunteers on this 2 mile hike to watch the moon rise and experience the desert at might. Bring your flashlight, your scorpion light, and wear warm clothes and comfortable footwear. No dogs, please. This hike is limited to those 16 and older. Please meet at Area 4.
