The purpose of the Solid Waste Management Program is to provide waste disposal and landfill post closure services to the residents of Maricopa County so they can benefit from a clean and healthy environment.
Two of Solid Waste Management current priorities are to divert illegally disposed of waste (illegal dumping or blight) from undeveloped or vacant land into landfills; and to reduce the amount of household waste that travels into local landfills. To support our efforts, we accept household waste, appliances, electronics, recycling, green waste, tires, and batteries, oil, paint and antifreeze at our facilities.
In addition, SWM also offers an educational outreach program to increase public awareness on solid waste issues, which includes public events such as community clean ups and Household Hazardous Waste collection days.
