Arizona WIC Track

All materials from this checklist must be submitted through DICAS (https://portal.dicas.org) between now and Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at 11:59 p.m. (Central).

This track allows the WIC staff to work toward completion of internship competencies while retaining their employment with their WIC agency.

What types of Practicum Experiences are offered by the AZ WIC Internship Track?

Our AZ WIC Dietetic Internship Track will offer the same curriculum as the Full-Time program for an internship class of four. The AZ WIC Track will begin in mid-August with a completion date in the first week of July. Interns participating in this track will be exposed to a wide variety of nutrition services from metropolitan and rural areas of Arizona. Opportunities are provided to interact with individuals and groups from multi-ethnic backgrounds representing all ages and levels of education. Community, clinical, and food services experiences offered will challenge interns to integrate knowledge gained from dedicated study with opportunities for practice and application.

Practice sites for the AZ WIC Track Dietetic Internship will be determined based on the geographic location of the candidates selected. Travel to areas around the state will be required for some rotations.

Because of the great diversity among the residents in Maricopa County, interns able to speak Spanish are highly valued by the rotation sires. However, the ability to speak Spanish is not a requirement for admission into the internship program.
