Kids and Infants Seated Safely

Kids and Infants Seated Safely (KISS)

CPST classKids and Infants Seated Safely (KISS) is a Maricopa County program funded by First Things First (www.azftf.gov) providing car seat education and training to Central Phoenix residents. This exciting program delivers a two-pronged approach to car seat safety and education.

Community Education:

  • One-hour sessions deliver basic car seat safety information to parents and caregivers.

  • Parents and caregivers are eligible to receive free car seats upon completion of the education class.

  • Car seat checks are held in high-traffic areas and open to the public; persons can see if their car seat is installed properly and can receive a new car seat if necessary.

Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST) Classes and Agency Capacity Building:

  • This NHTSA developed training class certifies participants in the skills and knowledge to check, install and train parents about car seats.

  • Child care centers and other agencies working with children ages 0-5 in Central Phoenix are eligible for technical assistance in developing their own car seat program through free CPST certification of staff, free car seats for parents/clients, car seat event toolkit, site visits and ongoing consultation and assistance.

We serve the following zip codes in Central Phoenix: 85003, 85004, 85006, 85007, 85008, 85012, 85013, 85014, 85015, 85016, 85017, 85018, 85019 and 85034.

First Things First

Kids and Infants Seated Safely is brought to you by First Things First. First Things First (FTF), approved by Arizona voters, works to ensure that our youngest children have access to quality early childhood experiences so they will start school healthy and ready to succeed. Across the state, FTF regional partnership councils - in collaboration with local leaders - identify the educational and health needs of children from birth through age 5 in their communities and fund strategies to address those needs.
