About Us
History of First Things First and Child Care Health Consultation Program:
In November 2006, Arizona voters passed Proposition 203: a citizen's initiative that funds quality early childhood development and health.
The mission of First Things First (FTF) is to increase the quality of, and access to, early childhood programs to ensure that a child entering school comes healthy and ready to succeed.
Child Care Nurse Consultants are part of the FTF Statewide Initiative to improve the quality of child care provided to children through the Quality First! Program.
In addition, three Regional Partnership Councils in Maricopa County have funded supplemental Child Care Nurse Consultants to provide services to any interested licensed child care center or home in their region. This includes North Phoenix, South Phoenix and Central Maricopa Regions.
As of October 2011, the MCDPH Child Care Health Consultation Program currently serves 398 programs in Maricopa County.
We now have a free hearing screening program for interested, regulated child care programs in the North Phoenix Region. Call Melissa Sult at 602-506-7494 to see if your program qualifies for hearing screening.
