The Healing Racism Project received the Excellence in Diversity first place award from the National League of Cities for areas serving a population of more than 400,000 residents. Since 2005, these quarterly community conversations have provided a forum for area residents, community leaders, faith-based organizations, College students and faculty to discuss the impact of racism, share constructive dialogue on race relations and identify strategies to challenge racism and promote healing. This award was achieved because a strong partnership among the sponsoring organizations. We hope this is one of many awards that will be achieved because of our focus on such an important effort.
