Maricopa County Supervisor Andy Kunasek, District 3, has changed the location for his regular New River/Desert Hills/Anthem community meeting to Daisy Mountain Fire Department Headquarters at 43814 N. New River Road (Circle Mountain Road/New River Road). The first meeting at the new location will be September 18th, from noon to 2:00.
The previous meeting place, Jackass Acres, has closed.
Supervisor Kunasek has been meeting with citizens of the north Maricopa County area on the third Tuesday of every month, excluding summers, since he took office ten years ago. In the past decade, over 2,000 constituents have dropped by with a comment, a complaint or just to chat.
“We started meeting at the old Jackass Acres at a picnic table under a tree ten years ago,” said Kunasek. “I chose to meet there because the name was catchy, and the location was well known and convenient to everyone. Frankly, I wasn’t sure anyone would ever show up, but someone always did.”
“I want to thank Joe Airdo (the proprietor of Jackass Acres) for his hospitality and wish him well. He’s been a good friend to me and to the community. I also want to thank Chief Healey and the Daisy Mountain Fire District Board of Directors for allowing me to meet at their facility. If I don’t cause them too much trouble, I hope they’ll let me stick around.”
