Cave Creek Regional Park Celebrates 21st Anniversary
(Maricopa County) How does Cave Creek Regional Park plan on celebrating its 21st anniversary? By hosting a spooktacular event! On Saturday, October 26th the park will kick-off the anniversary celebration at 4 p.m. with a Big Black Birds with Brains presentation hosted by Joe Ford of the Sonoran Audubon Society. “Ravens and their kin are crazy birds so this will be more of a light-hearted and fun presentation,” said Mark Paulat, Cave Creek Regional Park Interpretive Ranger.
Then, it’s off to a special “guest appearance” from a bunch of cool critters and their handlers. At 7 p.m., everyone is invited to enter the Coyote Howling Contest so be sure to warm up your vocal cords and come prepared to wail!
For those interested in participating in a more subdued activity, the folks from Stargazing for Everyone will be on hand providing a presentation on the wonders of the night sky. Giant telescopes will be available to peer through and enjoy a view of the planets and stars that surround the valley.
At 8 p.m., it’s time to whip up the energy again and join in on the costume contest fun. “Judges will be looking for the most original costume, best desert critter, cutest costume and, of course, the best junior ranger costume,” added Ranger Mark.
Trick-or-Treating opportunities will be available from 6 to 9 p.m. So save the date, watch the parks website for more information and plan on helping the park celebrate 21 years of service!
Cave Creek Regional Park is located at 37900 N. Cave Creek Parkway in Cave Creek. To learn more about the event, or Maricopa County’s Regional Park system, visit www.maricopa.gov/parks or contact (602) 506-2930.
