Many of us are eager to have fun and enjoy the holiday and we here at MCDEM wish everyone a very Happy New Year! And with just a little bit of planning, you can ensure your year goes out with a bang and not with a whimper.
New Years Eve is exciting and you may legally be able to purchase some types of “novelty” fireworks in Arizona; however, whether or not it’s legal to use them depends on where you are. If enjoying the various professional firework celebrations around the County on New Year’s Eve isn’t enough for you, be sure to check with the appropriate jurisdiction first. Also, remember Shannon’s Law which makes it a felony to discharge firearms randomly in the air.
Fireworks and loud noises can easily scare pets so ensure that they are kept in a safe place, preferably inside. Having current dog license and tags can also help should they escape. For more information on pet safety and how to renew dog licenses, please visit Maricopa County Animal Care and Control’s website.
We hope you have a safe and happy New Year’s and as one of your New Year resolutions, resolve to be ready. Visit Ready.gov for more information and don’t forget to register your cell phone for community emergency notifications at http://911alertsyou.com
