Cyber Security Initiative launched

Cyber Security Initiative launched

Joining a national initiative sponsored by the National Association of Counties, the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors will promote Internet security among its employees, other governmental organizations and the public. The board today unanimously endorsed the program along with a proclamation declaring October as "Cyber Security Awareness Month" here.

Supervisor Mary Rose Wilcox was named recently to a NACO committee on cyber security and promised the board would establish a website and promote awareness and training presentations to heighten security when citizens use the Internet. "The national organization is making cyber security a major priority this year and county governments are a great vehicle to get the word out. Counties are big enough to get the job done, and small enough to care," Wilcox said.

The national initiative is called: The Stop. Think. Connect. Campaign and is being done in alliance with the Department of Homeland Security and the National Cyber Security Alliance.
