A ribbon cutting and building dedication was held Tuesday, September 13, 2005, at the new Maricopa County Northeast Regional Court Center located at Union Hills and 40th Street. The facility, first approved by the Board of Supervisors on May 7, 2003, provides twelve Superior Courtrooms and four co-located Justice Courts. In addition to Superior and Justice Courts, services provided will include a Family Violence Prevention Center; Self Service Center; Clerk of the Superior Court marriage license office, external filing depository box and filing counters for civil, family, probate and tax cases; Juror Services; Court Interpretation and Translation Services; Mediation; Conciliation; Court Technology Services; and Court Security.
The project was managed and delivered by the Maricopa County Facilities Management Department. The design build contract was awarded to the team of Layton Construction Company and Dick & Fritsche Architects. The building is 104,000 square feet and was delivered under the total project budget of $18.6 million, including all furnishings, equipment, and telecommunications.
