Maricopa County Public Health to Simulate Dispensing Medication to Public in Mock Bioterrorist Event at North Canyon High School

Phoenix (April 12, 2012) - In the case of a bioterrorism attack with such an agent such as anthrax, Maricopa County Public Health is responsible for working with all of its communities in the distribution of potentially lifesaving antibiotics.
In order to make sure this is done effectively and efficiently, the Maricopa County Department of Public Health (MCDPH) has partnered with Paradise Valley Unified School District to host a dispensing drill. This effort will assist the county in devising its plan to best provide medication to its 3.8 million residents in a time of crisis.
Who: More than 200 community volunteers.
What: Pre-registered volunteers will drive their cars through the site as simulated medications are dispensed.
