Today, December 1, 2011 is World AIDS Day and this year’s theme is focused around “Getting to Zero.”
That means reaching the point of “zero new HIV infections, zero discrimination and zero AIDS related deaths.”
President Barack Obama announced today that an additional $50 million is going to treatment and medical facilities across the United States to help combat the AIDS virus. Unfortunately many still go untreated for the disease, but that can all change through these efforts and awareness.
There are still people out there living with the AIDS virus that are not even aware they have it, so the best thing to do is to know your status by getting tested for HIV.
The Maricopa County Department of Public Health HIV Services Program will be providing FREE HIV testing today and tomorrow (listed below).
