DRAFT Community Wildfire Protection Plan
Recent News Story
The Maricopa County Department of Emergency Management has completed the final draft of the Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) which is now available for public review and comment.
Primary objectives of a CWPP include helping local governments, fire departments and district, and residents:
- identify at-risk public and private lands, enabling them to better protect those lands,
- improve fire prevention and suppression activities,
- identify funding needs and opportunities to reduce the risk of wildland fire and enhance public and firefighter safety.
As with all plans that impact the public, Maricopa County and the participating jurisdictions and organizations value the input of the residents. Local residents are encouraged to review the final draft plan.
Public comments on the final draft will be accepted through March 31, 2010. Comments can be sent by email, mail or fax.
