MCACC is the second largest shelter in the nation, taking in over 150 homeless animals every day! We need your support to save lives. Volunteers enable us to give our animals the care and attention they need and deserve. Volunteers are needed every day to care for our homeless animals from walking dogs to matching a family with their new kitten. Volunteers are also needed to assist at special events, at off-site adoptions, with our animal control officers and more!

Volunteering
It's easy to become a volunteer. First, you attend a new volunteer orientation. At these orientations you will learn all about our organization. Once your orientation is complete you will attend an adoptions class if you wish to work with animals. From there you will undergo a buddy day in the shelter with an experienced volunteer trainer.
Before attending a new volunteer orientation please complete a Volunteer Application to submit at your orientation and view our Volunteer Manual. Orientations and adoption class dates and times are listed on the volunteer application. Please RSVP for these classes by e-mailing our volunteer manager, erinmaupin@mail.maricopa.gov, or calling (602) 506-8133.
Simply bring your completed application, a writing utensil and wear closed-toed shoes to orientation. You can attend an orientation at either shelter regardless of where you intend to volunteer. Thank you for giving the gift of time to the many homeless animals in Maricopa County.
Fostering
Become an MCACC foster parent! We need your help to save more lives. Fostering is a temporary placement of our homeless animals which saves their life. We are always in need of people who want to open their homes and their hearts to our animals. Foster families care for:
- Puppies and Kitttens who are not yet old enough to be placed up for adoption.
- Dogs or cats who are recovering from illnesses or medical procedures.
Fostering requires a commitment of time and energy from all household members to care for and socialize the animals, but the love you'll get in return is well worth the work! Interested in fostering?
