New
District Board Sworn Into Office
Members of the newly-elected District Board of Directors were
welcomed by County Supervisor Mary Rose Wilcox (center, right)
at a reception at El Portal Restaurant on the evening of Nov.
17th. James Chavez (far right), Paulina Morris (center, left),
and Bil Bruno (far left) will represent Districts Five, Three,
and One respectively The event was sponsored by Southwest Ambulance.
New District
Board of Directors were officially sworn into office on the morning
November 17th. After one of the tightest races of the November election,
Bil Bruno was elected to represent District One. Charlie Gail Hendrix
will represent District Two. Paulina Morris won a three way race
to represent District Three. Gerald Cuendet will represent District
Four, and James Chavez was elected from District 5. The new Board
held an orientation session on the afternoon of November 17th, which
covered open meetings act requirements and other legal issues. Additional
sessions have been tentatively scheduled for Wednesday December
1st, and Thursday December 2nd. Both sessions will begin at 9:00
a.m., and be held in Auditorium 1 in the Administration Building
on the Maricopa Medical Center campus.
The Board of Directors approved Bylaws and an amended IGA for the
District on Wednesday, November 1st. A copy of the Bylaws and additional
Board policies can be downloaded by clicking on the "Initial
District Bylaws and Policies" link to the left.
At the same meeting, the Board also approved a Resolution and Agreement
for District employees to participate in the Arizona State Retirement
System and a set of Agreements that will allow District employees
to continue participation in Nationwide Retirement Solutions' deferred
compensation program. Approval of the agreement with the Arizona
State Retirement System is on the ASRS Board's agenda for November
19th, and if approved, would be effective January 1, 2005.
