Countywide Contracts - September 2008
Maricopa County spends millions of dollars each year on nearly 2,800 active contracts. As part of our efforts to contain costs in these difficult economic times, we attempted to identify and recover overpayments to vendors. We recommend contract oversight be improved and questioned costs be reimbursed to the County. Our findings are summarized in this report.

Grant Funded Organizations Federal Audit Compliance Review - July 2008
The County Board of Supervisors, to comply with Federal laws requiring entities that pass through federal grant funds to monitor their subrecipients and ensure they complete a Single Audit each year, directed Internal Audit to annually determine which subrecipient entities must obtain independent audits and report subrecipient compliance with Single Audit reporting standards. Our findings are summarized in this report.

Office of the Medical Examiner - July 2008
The Office of the Medical Examiner supports County citizens and the law enforcement community by reporting on the cause and manner of death for cases under its jurisdiction. To successfully perform these duties, OME uses a case management system to track and report on the progress and facts of each case. We found weaknesses in the OME case management system. Our findings and recommendations are summarized in this report.
